  • GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

SNAP is for U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens who buy food and prepare meals to eat at home. People living in certain group living situations are also eligible.

  • FINANCIAL ELIGIBILITY

SNAP is for households with low incomes and few resources. If your income is too high or you have too much in savings or other resources, you will not be eligible.

  • WORK REQUIREMENTS

Most able-bodied adults, age 16 to 60, must meet a work requirement to get SNAP. Some people are exempt from the work requirement.
