Medicaid Health Insurance
for residents of New Mexico
AN OVERVIEW
Medicaid is a program that provides free health insurance to eligible low
and moderate-income families and individuals. Medicaid health insurance pays
for medical
treatment provided by private doctors, clinics, HMOs, hospitals, and pharmacies.
All children
in New Mexico whose parents cannot afford to pay for medical care are eligible
for free health
insurance for children through Medicaid. Immigrants, including undocumented
immigrants, are eligible for certain
health insurance benefits without fear of deportation.
