for residents of New Mexico
Cash assistance programs offer financial support and medical benefits to New Mexico low-income families, elders, and the disabled. Some cash assistance programs also provide education and job training to help eligible families and individuals become self-sufficient.
TANF
is a government program that gives cash assistance and medical
coverage to low-income families with dependent children. TANF is sometimes
called "welfare" or "public assistance." You must have a child or be pregnant
to qualify for TANF, and you must have little income. Many
families must also meet work and school requirements to receive TANF cash assistance.
SSI is
a need-based cash assistance program that gives help to New Mexico elders
age 65 or older, and adults or children who are blind or disabled. SSI is
for people with limited income and resources.
It is a government program run by the Social Security Administration. Use the online SSI
